The CPAN Testing Service (CPANTS) runs a barrage of tests against any and all packages uploaded to CPAN. The goal of the project is to quantify any aspects of quality that are measurable, and thereby encourage software authors to try to increase their software quality. The CPANTS creators realize that quality is hard for computers to measure, so they use the word Kwalitee to describe the approximation to quality that is actually measured by the service.
CPANTS attempts to judge a number of quality goals. Effort is currenly underway, led by Thomas Klausner, to expand the relevancy of the CPANTS metrics and allow authors to measure their own Kwalitee via Module::CPANTS::Analyse.
